2nd 14er in 1 week, let’s do this 💪🏼
i always fantasize about a true alpine start with headlamps but its so hard lol, this time we were on the trail at 630am 💪🏼
i ran into a dozen cadets from the US Air Force Academy who ran up and down the trail in sweatpants. my mind was blown thinking how easily we can shift our environment and our peer group and up level our life subhanallah
i got really scared at around 13K feet when it started raining and the winds picked up and the clouds looked wild. two kids came running down telling everyone to turn around because they had seen thunderheads. i told myself i would keep going for another 15 minutes and mentally drafted my message to my friends & family saying i had turned around. but i continued to ask every descending hiker if i should turn around. finally i ran into an old irishman who told me he had lived here for decades. “i’m really scared, should i turn around?” he looked deep into the clouds, and paused. “you’ll be fine, lad, just keep going,” he said. he was an angel sent to give me courage because the next thing i knew…
i was at the top and just like that, i had summited my second 14er, and hit my new lifetime elevation record at 14,278 feet. alhamdulillah God is so great ❤️
wild to be surrounded by 12-14K mountains in all directions
incredibly chill scene at the summit with exhausted hikers throwing off their packs and resting their feet
at the same time menacing clouds warning us not to tarry for too long
alhamdulillah ❤️
